So, the little devil sitting on my shoulder while we were relaxing around the fire Thursday night (before Wildfire actually started on Friday), kept saying, "go ahead, you don't imbibe often, enjoy yourself." I did a pretty good job of ignoring her until they broke out some cheap champagne and I just happened to have a half empty bottle of fruit juice in my hands. So instead of just taking a small sip like I did earlier in the evening, I refilled the juice bottle so that I had a very nice little cocktail. The rest of the evening was a bit blurry and I do believe that I was actually singing for a while... There were a couple other pleasant surprises too. *shy smile-not tellin'* I am fairly certain it was the first time since the surgery that I have actually gotten drunk-not just buzzed, but all out, stumbling a bit, keep getting the giggles, not going to get into my sleeping bag without help, drunk. It was fun.

As the weekend started in earnest, there were more than a couple of stumbling blocks. I'm afraid I burnt myself out on volunteering in the kitchen and was fairly peopled out by the time lunch was over on Saturday. There was enough emotional stress going on in the people I care about that it spilled over into my own mood more than once. And the only class I made it to all weekend was the safety class on Friday night. It was odd, by Sunday I was just not terribly interested in picking up my poi at all. And then just to make it interesting, I slammed my head into the cabinet above the sink as we were cleaning up the kitchen at the end of the weekend. Leaving [livejournal.com profile] buxom_bey and [livejournal.com profile] freedomthrufire to finish up left me feeling a bit guilty about it. Sorry, Guys.

Despite all of this, there were some really awesome parts to the weekend as well. Thursday evening with [livejournal.com profile] ariesd, [livejournal.com profile] buxom_bey, [livejournal.com profile] dlusionlvr, [livejournal.com profile] freedomthrufire and [livejournal.com profile] xfauxsn was just awesome. I love the peacefulness of the night before an event-- when you are all just taking a break in the setup and enjoying each others company. [livejournal.com profile] buxom_bey and I had the nicest swim together on Saturday morning in the lake just the two of us escaping for a little while. Seeing all the great people I met at Mayfire and meeting some new awesome people. There really is nothing more relaxing to me then sitting around a campfire with friends. Thanks so much to the Chefs--all the meals were just fantastic. I haven't eaten so well for a very long time.

And of course there was the FIRE! So many incredible performers all in one space at one time. It was indescribable. I loved being able to spin with all these guys but it was even better seeing new tricks, new ideas and new toys. And spinning to some very different music both the mix that [livejournal.com profile] xfauxsn and just the awesome drumming too. I am really looking forward to the final Thermal Thursday this week.
