I got the job in Waltham!!!

I start on Thursday June 29th. I am really psyched.

That being said, if you know of anyone interested in level 1.5-2 User support position (some deskside, some phone work)send them my way. The position I am leaving pays $26 an hour and benefits are available at group rates but the company doesn't pay anything towards it. It is a contract after all. The health insurance is almost $1000/month for the family plan. As mentioned in an earlier post it comes out to about $6.20 an hour.

So the illusion that we might actually have some decent health insurance has been shattered pretty firmly. I already knew that the deductible involved was quite a bit but the plan waited until *AFTER* we sign up to let us in on the fine print.

I know that this job is going to be a good situation for me but right now I'm wondering if maybe I should have held out for a permanent job with real benefits.

I got a job offer for an indefinate contract in Danvers, right off of 128.

Good solid company with a long history.

The contracting company has much better benefits than the last one.

It's a raise and a step up over my last position.

It means I will be out for only 3.5 weeks.

I'm pretty happy with it.

Well, I had a phone interview with a recruiter that seemed very promising yesterday. I have what has become a phone interview with an actual company this afternoon. I am waiting to hear back on possible interviews with two different companies...I have hope that I will be re-employed before too long.

The annoying thing is that most of what I am finding is still contract. Some of it has the possibility to go permanent but only one of them is being called an actual contract-to-perm position. But contract means very little benefits, if any. *sigh*

I'd really like to have a regular pemanent job again. Is that too much to ask?

I am a Desktop Support professional with 5 years experience, A+ and Network+ certified. Prior to that several years of Customer Service oriented positions.

Job history bounces around a bit from 2000-2004 due to the dotcom bust, but most of my experience is in the Windows environment in companies with anywhere from 50-5000 users. The last 2 years I have worked at a Computer Security company in a Desktop Support role. Hardware & Software break/fix, Active Directory, Printer Support, laptops, desktops, some telephony support.
