OK, most people who know me, know that I hate politics. I will more likely walk away from a political discussion than even listen to it, never mind participate. But this chick has really pissed me off.

Healey's fearmongering ads are insulting, disgusting and WAAAAAY out of line. What deranged thinking is leading her to believe that this is a good idea? How can she possibly defend these ads with a straight face? The fact that she can defend them at all is disgusting to me.

I'm dumbfounded...just dumbfounded.

If she wins this election, it will be a very sad day indeed.

You mean the "I fight for victim's rights, too often Duval Patrick is on the other side" ads? Or are there other ads that I don't know about?

They offend me too, but only in a background completely unsurprising way. But then, I follow politics. "I'm tough on crime, but opponent is a wuss who will not protect you" has got to be the second most commonly used political ad ever(after "he'll raise your taxes!"), and the whole "be afraid, vote for me" idea has been especially strong the last few election cycles.

[ of course, neither of us are the target market for those ads - and I'm afraid there is a certain class of voter with whom they play very well ]

The one that was released today featured a women in a dark garage walking alone while the narrator talks about Patrick defending LaGuer(sp?)

*sigh* You are all to correct about the target of the ads.

Oh absolutely! I just said as much to Deb yesterday. I have no plans on voting for the next governor, nor do I have a clue what the issues are (sorry, not interested in them) But IF I were voting, just based off the commercials, they are SO not working in her favor. All I get out of these ads are basically; Healy: "I have no issues to really stand on/campaign about, so lets see if we can scare people into not voting for the other guy". It's age old Mud-slinging and the sad thing is that some people will actually be convinced to vote for her based off this crap, and not for the issues that she is actually campaigning for.
It's not a surprise why so many people now-a-days are disenfranchised from the whole politics thing anyway due to crap like this.
*steps off soap box now*

Ummmm, so go vote for Patrick already?! If you let Healey's awful ads disgust you enough NOT TO VOTE for Patrick (or anyone), you are doing just what the ads are supposed to get you to do. Don't go along with that.
